Bloggers have jumped all over videos. Why? Because it’s a great way to show your personality, and connect with readers of your blog.
Adding video to your blog provides 4 distinct advantages:
1. Another source of traffic - There are people who will not read blogs. They come to the internet to watch videos. But, if you have a video that is entertaining, informative or both; you will find that these viewers will come to your blog. A good source of traffic that wouldn’t normally find you.
2. Have a link to your website - Most of these video hosting sites will allow you to add a link to your website right in the description. So, if someone likes what they see, they can click on the link and check out your blog.
3. Another way to brand you & your blog - Putting your face on your blog is a great way to build branding. Readers get to see you, and your personality. Something which is difficult to get across in your writing. Videos help strengthen the connection with your readers.
4. Another level of communication - There are some things that are easier to show rather than write about. Screen capture videos are a great way to do a how-to post. Sometimes you can write a how-to post, but other times you will find it easier to just show how it’s done.
More people are going online to watch videos with each passing day. Television has conditioned us to get our information this way. The average American Household has a television on for 6 + hours per day. That’s a lot of time spent in front of the tube.

How popular are online videos sites? YouTube, the most popular video sharing website, is ranked by Alexa as the #3 most visited site on the web. Few statistics are publicly available regarding YouTube. However, In January 2008 alone, nearly 79 million users watched over 3 billion videos.
