Social marketing provides an incredible opportunity for you to market your business to the masses. The only cost for it is your time. But you can waste many hours if you do not do it right. Here are three essential components needed to start a successful marketing campaign using social media.

1 – Know Who Your Target Audience Is.

If you do not know who you are marketing to then you are shooting in the dark with your marketing and wasting your time. This step is vitally important if you want to create an effective campaign. First think about what type of person you are targeting. For Example are you targeting Network Marketers or those searching for a home based business? Or are you offering solutions to a certain market?

What are the needs of your target audience. Think about what they are looking for and what they want to hear. Define the who, what, where, and when of your target audience and mold your social media marketing around that.

2 – Add Value.

Now that you have determined who your target audience is you must add value to them. What are their needs? What are the problems they are facing? What questions are they asking. Start addressing these areas in videos, articles, and on your blog. You can also meet these needs on social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and the hundreds of other sites available.

In each of the above examples it is critical that you offer incredible value. People want to work with a leader. When you off them valuable information they automatically start to see you as a leader. On the flip side if you do not add any value to them they will see you as a waste of their time! People want to work with someone they know, like, and trust. Plant these seeds by giving value before expecting any return! When you start meeting peoples needs you will automatically begin to see results with your social media marketing!

3 – Get Personal.

Connect with people on a one on one basis. Remember social marketing is about connecting with people. Pay attention to their needs on an individual basis. Engage in conversation with them. The social networking sites give you a perfect platform for doing this. The best part is it only takes a few minutes to get personal using these mediums.

The time it takes is minimal compared to the impact it can have on you and the other person. By taking a few moments you can gain a loyal follower that may turn into an eager customer some day. So take a few minutes today and determine who your target audience is. Create some value for them and start connecting with those individuals one on one. With these three elements you will see your social media marketing become more effective!
