Does Green Internet Marketing Exist?

With the world becoming increasingly concerned about it’s environmental impact, both with global events such as global warming and localized events such as pollution, people are increasing wanting to make things ‘green’. Does green internet marketing exist? Yes, I believe it does, and this article will explain why.

Nothing to transport

Here’s an obvious one: since you can work on your computer, at home, there will be no need for driving or traveling around anymore. Instead of a daily commute into your workplace and out again, if you’re doing green internet marketing, this will cut off a huge percentage of your carbon emissions, and save you a lot of money in the process.

Servers can be green

If you own a website, then you’ll probably know that you will need some website hosting. And even if you don’t, you’re probably aware that your website has to go somewhere, and that’s on a computer somewhere in the world. What you might not know is that servers are incredibly power hungry beasts. They are spinning their hard drives constantly, and the amount of energy that it takes to keep that all cool is immense. Thankfully there are several web hosting companies that do green hosting. This means that you can get green internet marketing when you might be doing otherwise. Just do a search for ‘green web hosting’.

You can reduce carbon at your house

If you’re going to be working at home, then to get totally green internet marketing, you should probably switch your power company over to one which only uses renewable generating power plants. Computers are big power suckers, and since you’ll be spending a bit of time on one, it’s probably worth the power switch. Also make sure your computer is energy efficient and the power you use in your house is minimized as much as possible.

Does green internet marketing really exist?

Well, you can make all the usual changes, including those above, and your business will not be totally green. Why? Well, your content is going to be seen all over the web, and those people seeing that content may not be so green. Does this mean you should give up, and say you can’t do anything about it? Well, you can’t. But I would think that the reductions in impact to the environment by you not having to travel, using renewable energy at your house, and using green server technology will mean that you can reduce your emissions and get green internet marketing where others can’t, and won’t.

Have you considered online training? After all, spending hours in front of a monitor isn’t terribly green, nor good for your income either. The fact is, getting some training will be beneficial for everyone, including the environment. Make it online, save some money, and save some trees.

The fact is, green internet marketing will *almost* exist. It’s *this* close to being so. The point that I’m making is that you can reduce everything, and you’ll still be running a green business. Enjoy the future.
