The New Google Caffeine Search Algorithm

The New Google Caffeine Search Algorithm
By Darren W Chow

A few months ago, Google released a Sandbox that allow webmasters and developers to try out a new search algorithm. From the sandbox, search users are able to see a different set of search results. This new algorithm is known as Caffeine Search Algorithm.

What is notably different from the new set of search results is that the images, news and video results are presented differently. They appear to blend into the search results, instead of appearing on top (or at the bottom) of the search results. This could mean that the new algorithm takes into account the freshness of the content. The new algorithm also appear to reward sites that are updated on a regular basis with unique content.

Those who have tested the new search engine said that the results are not dramatically different, so there is no need to worry about your sites dropping out of the search results overnight. As long as your site is built along sound webmaster guidelines, they will continue to do well. Let’s recap some webmaster guidelines to avoid being penalized by Google.

1) Unique content.

Don’t use software to generate your articles. Always write your own content. Keep the content on your site unique and avoid publishing the same content on other websites. If you want to use content to market your site (e.g. article marketing), write a different batch of articles and use them solely for marketing.

Also, when writing articles, remember that you are writing for human readers. The primary function of the search engines is to deliver relevant content. So give the search engines what they want and make it easy for the search bots. In return, your site will be rewarded with high search rankings and more traffic.

2) Regular updates.

Content, when not updated, becomes stale very quickly. You get rewarded with more traffic by Google when you post fresh content on your site on a regular basis. If you can’t afford the time, you can always count on guest publishers to publish new content. Search engines will visit your site daily to check for new content.

3) Clear linking structure.

Always maintain a linking structure that makes it easy for the search engines to index your content. Avoid using complicated technologies like Java or Flash to generate your link menus. Static text links will do just fine. If the linking structure gets a bit confusing, create a new site map with all the links in it. This will help search bots find all the web pages.

4) Avoid link farms.

For sure, link building is certainly not dead. In fact, the new Caffeine algorithm does seem to favor sites that associate themselves with other authority sites. So when you are promoting your website, try to acquire links from well established sites. For instance, avoid sites that contain very little content and many external links.

In conclusion, be reminded that even though it’s a new search algorithm, many of the fundamentals still apply when it comes to SEO. Quantity is important, but don’t forget about quality.

The new google caffeine search algorithm now also search on social site. Google is now giving higher ranking for frequently updated website, and less spammy content site.
